Lead Machine Learning Engineer

Aneo is a renewable energy company with headquarters in Trondheim, established in 2022 by TrønderEnergi and HitecVision. Aneo invests heavily in wind power, solar power, electrification and energy efficiency in the Nordic region.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and software development play key roles in the necessary renewable energy transition due to the increasing need for automation and data-driven decision making. Therefore, Aneo has an AI and product development department dedicated to developing and maintaining systems for forecasting, optimization, simulation, and control of energy infrastructure including wind turbines, hydropower plants, construction sites, EV chargers and buildings.

Are you our next Lead Machine Learning Engineer?

Our AI department is a cross-disciplinary and international team, with strong backgrounds in machine learning, operations research, and software development. The team works full stack, from understanding business needs and data analysis in Python to deploying AI systems in production, setting up necessary DevOps and cloud infrastructure, and creating user interfaces. We are now looking for our next Lead Engineer, and hope to welcome a professional and collaborative colleague into our team.


Work tasks

The role's main responsibility is to guide and facilitate the AI department to develop effective, efficient, and reliable AI solutions that create value for Aneo.

Technical responsibilities:

  • Responsible for critical technical decisions.
  • Responsible for the development process and standards.
  • Responsible for technical quality and reliability of the solutions.
  • Responsible for cloud infrastructure – architecture, design, and maintenance.

Team responsibilities:

  • Department deputy
  • Responsible for a productive and engaging team culture.
  • Driving force for collaboration within projects, across projects and with other teams.
  • Facilitate mentoring and learning in the team.
  • Support planning and execution of projects.

Upon further agreement the Lead Machine Learning Engineer may be responsible for our group of AI personnel. The group consists of highly skilled and professional colleagues, and the management responsibility will play an important role in the group's further development.

Research:

For the right candidate there will be opportunities related to

  • Supervising relevant master and PhD students.
  • Contributing to relevant research projects and collaborations.

Qualifications

We are looking for a team player with good communication skills.
Our new Lead Machine Learning Engineer should also have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Good collaboration, and management skills.
  • Broad technical skills in AI, machine learning or software engineering.
  • Experience with DevOps and commercially deployed software systems.
  • Master/PhD in Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Mathematics, or similar.
