Systems analyst / Full-stack developer

Andøya Space is looking for a Systems analyst / Full-stack developer that can strengthen our team within Andøya Space Operations Support.

At Andøya Space we provide services in sub-orbital scientific rocket launch operations, defence testing and evaluation, and space education. In addition, we are extending our capabilities to also include small satellite orbital launch operations from the new Andøya Spaceport on the west coast of Andøya. The main headquarters of Andøya Space is located at Andøya, and we have offices in Tromsø and at Lysaker outside Oslo.

Together with the Numerical Analysis team the prospective Systems analyst/Full-stack developer will develop, maintain, and operate mission and safety-critical systems. These are used to ensure safe operations ahead of and during launch campaigns across the department’s entire operations portfolio.

Working tasks

Andøya Space owns and maintains a suite of real-time systems, such as trajectory and countdown information systems, that are used during sub-orbital scientific rocket launches. In addition, we maintain and develop software used to perform quantitative risk analyses.

The main tasks and responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Maintain and develop real-time mission and safety-critical systems
  • Configure and operate systems during launch campaigns
  • Maintain and develop analysis software used for rocket flight modelling and safety analyses
  • Design graphical user interfaces for easy visualization and interpretation of flight data

In addition to supporting sub-orbital scientific rocket launch operations, the candidate may be engaged in the activities of Andøya Space Defence and Andøya Spaceport.

In this role, you will be given a high degree of autonomy and will be entrusted to make central software design decisions. Because of this, it is essential that you are able to learn and acquire new knowledge quickly, and that you have a good overview of the state-of-the-art in modern systems design. Initially, the work will also involve becoming familiarised with and maintaining legacy code, and so the candidate will be expected to be stationed at Andøya for longer periods during his/her first year of employment.

Qualifications

  • You hold a master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or similar, although relevant experience can compensate for the formal educational requirement
  • You are experienced with programming in C++
  • It is beneficial if you have experience with .NET (C#)
  • Experience with JavaScript and/or Python, and front-end frameworks such as Qt, React, or similar, will be considered beneficial
  • You are experienced with version control using Git
  • You may be familiar with SQL

Previous experience working with mission-critical, safety-critical and/or real-time systems will be considered beneficial, however, is not a requirement. The prospective candidate must be eligible for a Norwegian security clearance.

Personal skills

We are looking for a colleague who is positive, ambitious, and who collaborates well with others. You enjoy learning and sharing your knowledge with your colleagues.

The ideal candidate is experienced with team-based software development and has a proven track record of being able to take initiative and find new and innovative solutions.

We offer

At Andøya Space you will be given challenging and exciting tasks central to the company’s core business. We strive to facilitate internal and external collaborations with relevant actors within the space industry and to provide a dynamic and innovative environment for our employees. In addition, we offer a competitive salary, and several social benefits including a pension scheme, insurance, and flexible working hours.
