Global Data Scientist

As a Global Data Scientist, you will be at the forefront of analyzing, understanding, and predicting the performance of products over their lifetime and create/develop solutions that will support Jotun’s strategic goals and high ambitions on sustainability.  

You will be part of a group of data scientists that works with numerous stakeholders across the global Jotun organization ranging from R&D, marketing and sales, technical service, and IT and with external partners. In such cross functional projects, your involvement as Global Data Scientist will ensure that the innovation and business potential that data and technology represent is identified and realized.

The position will be located preferably at headquarters in Sandefjord, however other locations may be evaluated. Some travelling (20-30 days per year) must be expected in the position.

Main Responsibilities

•  Apply data science approaches and advanced analytics techniques to analyze, monitor and predict coating performance.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve data driven models and tools for internal and external use for the analysis, monitoring, or prediction of asset and coating performance.
• Lead and/or contribute to data science projects as an expert data science resource.
• Identify potential data driven approaches that could support internal or external processes, communicate, and align with relevant stakeholders and contribute to the implementation of the above.
• Ensure that assigned data sources and tools are operational and updated.
• Contribute to disseminating knowledge and interest in data science and building internal competence across the organization in data science, analytics, and performance monitoring – act as “Data science evangelist”.
• Support the global Jotun network with respect to data science and performance evaluation and contribute to the training of local and regional analytical resources.
• Stay updated on all issues related to data analysis, data science, and performance monitoring and proactively initiate the adoption of such developments in Jotun.
• Contributing to the general development of the Data Science team and the wider Digital and Data team.

Formal Qualifications

• BSc degree or higher within data science, engineering, IT, or related subjects.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Preferable to have:

• Programming skills, especially in Python
• Experience with data science methods and approaches
• Experience with Azure, Snowflake, DevOps, PowerBI
• Experience with AGILE project methodology, preferably SCRUM
