Data Scientist

Are you our new Data Scientist?

Storebrand aims to become a more data-oriented and data-driven company. Our aim is that data and insight govern processes and customer experience, and that key decisions are made based on smart use of data and analysis.

We are looking for a Data Scientist who wants to help us on this journey and become part of a central team that works with advanced data analysis and AI.

The position is situated in Storebrand`s Center of Excellence for Data & Analytics. The unit is centrally located in Storebrand and has mandate and responsibility that extends across the company`s business areas. Here, you will collaborate with other Data Scientists, analysts, and engineers to refine and create value from data.

You will work with modern tools and technology in the Microsoft Azure cloud service. Python is our programming language of choice, and much of your work will be done in Databricks or Snowflake. Ethical use of AI and compliance with relevant regulations are important to us, and MLOps is key for maintaining and operating our machine learning models. Additionally, we’re actively looking to unlock information from unstructured data sources, and to make use of recent advances in Generative AI, and language models in particular, to create impactful AI solutions.

What you will be doing

We work in a project-oriented manner, collaborating interdisciplinarily with our business partners. Our project portfolio is constantly evolving, but includes, among other things, work to uncover insurance fraud, process automation, streamlining marketing and sales activities, improving services and customer experiences, in addition to sustainability analyses. We are actively looking to expand the use of data and analysis in the company, and you will have the opportunity to identify and pursue new projects in collaboration with business.

As a Data Scientist, your working day is varied, but the main part of your day consists of processing and analyzing data in various shapes and sizes, as well as building, improving and maintaining machine learning models and AI solutions. You will also spend time familiarizing yourself with various business areas and questions to understand how these can be translated into analytical approaches that can be answered with data. After identifying, collecting, and processing relevant data, you will keep the business stakeholders in the project continuously updated on progress, and explain and present results.

Who are you?

Most of your colleagues have a master’s degree or a PhD in a quantitative subject, and it’s likely that you do too. In addition, we believe that experience with programming in connection with data analysis, statistics or predictive modeling is a major advantage. We think you have spent time with data processing in Python and maybe even SQL. If you are familiar with Spark, GitHub, Docker, Databricks or Jupyter, that’s great, but not a requirement.

If you enjoy discovering patterns in data and applying your analytical skills to solve practical problems, this could be the position for you. If you also enjoy working in a team where you collaborate and share your knowledge, while simultaneously structuring and managing your own projects, you could be a perfect fit for this position.

Finally, we are looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with commercial flair and the ability to simplify complex concepts.

Why choose Storebrand?

At Storebrand we encourage our employees to take up space and voice their opinions. We facilitate personal development and learning through continuous competence development in the form of professional groups, conferences, training, and innovation days.

We believe in the value of having different perspectives and backgrounds in our organisation, and therefore work actively to create a social environment that is inclusive and diverse. We have been recognized for this work by, for example, the awarding of the SHE-index prize for 2023, an equality index that measures and compares the gender balance in companies.

We are based in Lysaker, centrally located near public transport, and with ample capacity for bicycle parking and changing rooms. The office is a broader term for us - many tasks are solved in the home office or in other suitable places.

We are also concerned about your health and have good agreements with doctors, psychologists, and dentists as well as occupational health services. Our premises also house a chiropractor/physiotherapist and a wide range of training opportunities through well-equipped training rooms and our own gymnasium.

Furthermore, as an employee, you will enjoy a very good pension scheme, favourable insurances in addition to a subsidized employee loan for home purchase.

Application deadline: 10.01.2024. We assess applications on an ongoing basis.

We accept applications in both English and Norwegian.

We look forward to hearing from you!
