PRA Europe is looking for a business-oriented and strategically focused Development Director for an international role

The company is now looking for an experienced Development Director with strong technical expertise, in a European role that will support development and application for products across 9 countries. The role will have a broad range of responsibilities and lead the teams responsible for the development, maintenance and enhancement of the systems, solutions and services provided by IT to the business. We are seeking a business-oriented Development Director who desires to work in an international environment and possesses IT security and compliance as an integral part of their DNA. You will be working on systems that ensure the success of the business in the European market. In the development team, we emphasize agile delivery methodologies, automated testing, proper design, and continuous deployment and integration. We are looking for an ambitious, humble and smart individual with excellent communication skills, a strategic mindset, and strong execution capabilities who can help PRA Group achieve the company's goals.

The 4 development teams operate autonomously and don't demand extensive daily oversight. However, team leaders require a collaborative partner well-versed in technology, leadership, and processes, both strategically and politically. When needed, the director may need to engage at a detailed level.The director should serve as a pillar of support for team leaders, particularly in discussions related to infrastructure/operations, information security, and project management within the development context. 
The Development Director will report to the CIO Europe and will be part of the European IT leadership team and and is located in Bjørvika, Oslo.  

Main Duties and responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, maintenance, support, and operation of in-house products. We call this our common European collection platform
  • Create and operationalize roadmaps and strategy
  • Effectively provide direction to the team and ensure that people thrive
  • Program and Project Management: ensure that business colleagues have appropriate information to allow project prioritization, maintaining a rolling program of forward looking project and costs
  • Sourcing: ensure that solutions and services are provided by the most appropriate and cost effective individuals, teams and/or third parties
  • Governance: define and implement appropriate communication and engagement procedures with all levels of the business; organization of the IT team and its processes; responsibilities include people performance, talent management and succession planning
  • Stakeholder Management: establish good working relationships with a range of key stakeholders including senior management across Europe, peers, direct reports, all staff and third party suppliers
  • Collaborate with other European central teams heads to ensure a joined up approach regarding IT operations, infrastructure, information security and development to optimize and develop the technology platform
  • Build relationships with in-country IT teams and ensure that any products being developed locally for specific markets are aligned with overall strategy for IT Europe, recorded, and follow the common European standard development processes
Skills and Experience:
  • 10 years’ experience in IT development and a degree in a technical field
  • Excellent skills and experience of in-house product development (develop, maintain, support and operate) and understanding of development processes and experience of creating roadmaps and ability to operationalize them
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of highly experienced specialised professionals and effective co-operation, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Positive, pro-active and professional leader with the ability to include, support, and develop employees
  • Knowledge and experience in MS SQL Server products will be an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft .net, C# will be an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience in Azure architecture and development will be an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience in LeSS Agile will be an advantage
  • Fluency in written and spoken Norwegian and English
