Data Scientist

The position will join a unique multi-disciplinary marine fuel cell organization, with modeling, testing and development of marine fuel cell and battery systems as its main responsibility.

The primary responsibility of this role is to actively contribute to the advancement of cloud and edge systems utilized in the design and operation of maritime fuel cell and battery systems. This involves leveraging cutting-edge technology alongside a substantial volume of operational data. Successful candidates for this position should possess proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, expertise in statistical modeling, and the ability to manipulate and visualize data using relevant tools. The integration of these technical skills is crucial for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of maritime energy systems, ensuring they meet evolving industry standards and demands. You will combine the basic physical understanding of fuel cell and batteries with data to enable the future of marine shipping to be decarbonized in its operation.

Your responsibilities will be to

  • Develop a control system that optimizes product performance, based on research, test data, and real-time system feedback.
  • Product ownership to on-board and cloud based system offerings.
  • Ability to extract knowledge out of big data to develop and program software solutions that provide customer value.

Work Experience and Qualifications or Skills we need:

  • M.Sc. in Computer Science, Statistics, Software Engineering, Cybernetics or similar
  • Experience with handling and analysis of industrial big data
  • Experience with data modelling, machine learning and predictive modelling
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Norwegian understanding required
  • Self-motivated and structured, with an eye for both detail and the overall perspective
  • High working standard and work capacity, takes initiative and are self- managed
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Can identify relevant information from uncertain and incomplete sources
  • Drive and adaptability to fit in with a growing company
