Maritime Domain Data Architect

We are looking for a Maritime Domain Data Architect to join our team in Oslo, Norway!

Veracity by DNV is seeking a skilled and passionate Maritime Data Architect to join our team. This role will focus on Emissions and Decarbonization within the maritime industry domain, with the goal of building a data architecture in our Data Platform to support Customers, Data Providers, and Solution Partners.

With the increasing adoption of our Data Platform, particularly due to the success of Emissions Connect, our Data Workbench and Operational Vessel Data (OVD) have become crucial components. We’re looking for someone who can collaborate with our stakeholders to ensure that trusted emissions data is connected where it’s needed most.

We need assistance in understanding the business needs of our customers and partners. As we aim to provide necessary support and make informed decisions regarding data architecture and management, we’re increasing our focus on this area. We’re seeking an individual who is interested in and ambitious about understanding this landscape. A keen eye for available DNV data, corresponding architecture, and the potential of aggregated data to support our product strategy and provide value to our customers is essential.

We are looking for a highly self-driven individual that will have high impact on our key deliveries in Veracity, potentially shaping a new discipline throughout our Data Platform. Understanding the maritime data landscape will be key but as we mature other industries and generic data architectures can be in scope of the assignment.

You will join a global team that runs a broad range of products and services, transforming existing and developing new digital services and tools across all of DNV's industries. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about fostering a culture that supports mutual respect, focus, courage, openness and commitment, together with teams, stakeholders, product managers, scrum masters and leaders.

We are looking for someone that can:

  • Collaborate with Product Managers to lead customer and partner dialogs to clarify requirements and develop roadmaps for data integrations.
  • Define and develop the data architecture vision, strategy, principles, standards, and best practices for the maritime industry domain.
  • Lead design and implementation of data models, schemas, integrations, and APIs that enable access, analysis, and visualization in the Data Platform.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, data scientists, solution architects, and other stakeholders to understand the data requirements, use cases, and challenges in the Maritime Domain.
  • Ensure data quality, security, privacy, governance, and compliance across the data lifecycle.

Position Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in data architecture or a similar role
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Experience from customer dialogs and requirements gathering
  • Proficient in SQL and one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala)
  • Experience in working with various data sources (e.g., relational databases, NoSQL databases, APIs, web services, files)
  • Experience in working with various data platforms (e.g., cloud-based services such as AWS or Azure, big data frameworks such as Hadoop or Spark)
  • Experience in working with various data tools (e.g., ETL tools such as Airflow or Talend, BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau)
  • Experience in working with various data standards (e.g., ISO 8000 or ISO 19115)
  • Knowledge of the maritime domain and its challenges and opportunities related to emissions and decarbonization

If you are a self-driven individual with a keen interest in understanding the maritime data landscape and have the ambition to shape a new discipline through our Data Platform, we would love to hear from you.
