Senior Engineers for Safety Systems

Kongsberg Maritime delivers world-leading automation solutions for process control and safety systems, targeting vessels and oil and gas installations both nationally and internationally. Due to increasing activities, we are currently looking for a qualified Senior Engineer to strengthen our team in applications such as Fire & Gas detection, Process Shutdown, and Emergency Shutdown.

As a senior engineer with us, you’ll work closely with other skilled colleagues who support each other in an active work environment. Your tasks will be related to upgrades and expansions of KONGSBERG’s equipment on the Norwegian continental shelf, retrofit projects, and to some extent, new builds.

You’ll be involved in projects where you collaborate with engineers within different expertise—from the design phase to testing in the lab and shipyard, and finally to offshore installation and completion. This provides opportunities for travel to different locations, both onshore and offshore.

Our work tools include KONGSBERG’s proprietary automation systems: AIM, KCS, or K-Chief.

Job Description:

• Engineering and configuration of KM’s safety systems
• Designing and modifying interfaces for operators (HMI)
• Project work in collaboration with clients
• Participation in small and large offshore projects—from new builds to maintenance tasks on existing installations
• Setup and execution of various tests on the systems during the project phase, both internally and with subcontractors/clients
• Implementation and commissioning of control systems—both offshore and onshore
• Collaborating with other engineers across disciplines
• Assisting in the training of new colleagues
  
  

Desired Qualifications and Prerequisites:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or technical college degree in relevant fields (automation, electrical engineering, etc.)
• Good knowledge of Automation Safety and modular programming
• Familiarity with Functional Safety management (IEC 61508/61511)
• Perform independent tasks with a strong emphasis on quality
• Ability and motivation to acquire new knowledge
• Positive and solution-oriented with good collaboration skills
• Fluent in both spoken and written Norwegian and English
