Platform Engineer

As a part of the team delivering DNB's Data & Analytics Platform you will be key in building the platform-as-a-product and its capabilities, essential for the Bank to realise value from data. You will become part of a highly skilled, pragmatic, and autonomous team, which deliver technical solutions for and cooperate with and support Data Engineers and Data Scientists from all over the bank. A wide range of use cases from both business and tech are currently using the platform, and we are rapidly growing!

Our goal is to deliver a self-service platform which makes it a breeze to generate value from data, both ad-hoc and through building and incorporating insight into real business processes. Leveraging our platform, all the way from idea to production, should be as simple, flexible, scalable, robust, and friction-free as possible - principles which at all levels dictate the solutions and technologies we implement. We want our users to care as little about infrastructure and tech as possible such that they instead can stay focused on generating value from data and analytics. Our job is to build, provide and operate the best possible platform and infrastructure to enable them.

DNB's Data & Analytics Platform has been in the works for many years, and today consists of a vast array of custom and off-the-shelf services which provide the capabilities needed by Data Engineers and Data Scientists in DNB. The services range from DNB's enterprise data platform powered by Snowflake and dbt, via Graph Databases, IDEs, Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) tools, Web Applications hosting, and Documentation-as-code, to capabilities for data and machine learning pipelines. Everything built by leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies and developed and operated with modern DevOps principles to offer DataOps and MLOps processes and principles for our users.

The platform is mainly built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using technologies like Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), serverfull and serverless, container technology, and more. You will enter an environment where we use DevOps and CI/CD in GitLab to deliver our platform with high speed and agility. As an engineer in our team, you will get deep experience with AWS in everything from network related challenges to security, compute, storage, access control and more. You will also be a part of and get responsibility for designing and architecting the solutions we are building.

We are looking for engineers who have experience with

• Python or similar programming languages
• Amazon Web Services or similar cloud platforms
• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) like Cloudformation, Terraform or similar
• Container technologies and container orchestration tools, like AWS Elastic Container Service, Kubernetes, or similar
• CI/CD and DevOps, and connected technologies like Gitlab, GitHub, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Travis CI or similar
• Bonus: tools and capabilities in the Data & Analytics space, and/or some Data Engineering/Data Science competency

In addition, we look for someone with

• Motivation for taking on a role as tech lead for one of our platform teams
• The ability to learn quickly, solve problems, and be continuously challenged
• The ability to both dive into the technology and code, but also to do platform advisory and support
• A value driven mindset - whatever we do should in the end give value for the platform's users and for DNB
• High proficiency in English (main work language), and ideally proficient in or willing to learn Norwegian
