Platform engineering is a team responsible for developing and maintaining a portfolio of tools and services to help our development teams successfully deploy and operate their products. Your organisation is a key contributor in providing developer tooling that developers use and love. You will work in close collaboration with development teams across all of our newspapers like VG and Aftenposten in Norway and Aftonbladet, SvD and Omni in Sweden to make sure the solutions your team provides are meeting their expectations.
The infrastructure is based on AWS services. We use Docker as containers and EKS/Convox for container orchestration.
What will you do in this role?
You will manage a team responsible for the following domains:
Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools
Containers and Runtime based on Docker, Kubernetes (EKS) and Convox (ECS)
Provisioning capabilities and cloud accounts for AWS and other cloud services
FinOps to optimise and monitor costs.
You will be responsible for staying in sync with other departments in Schibsted Media in order to provide them with capabilities that they need. You will also be responsible for setting the overall direction of infrastructure in Schibsted Media.
Your organisation will both support, drive and finalise the company split of your respective services from the remaining Schibsted organisation during the temporary service agreement period - to the new Schibsted Media setup. All the while building, fine tuning and managing your teams in delivering excellent services to the whole of Schibsted Media.
Who you are:
Experience with leading and building software development or infrastructure teams
Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate your team members.
Experience with developing infrastructure based on cloud, containers and automation, both from product and engineering perspective
Collaborative, pragmatic and service minded approach with the focus on delivering
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a larger organisation
Basic understanding of Linux/Unix systems
Good understanding of AWS and its services
Good understanding of CI/CD practices, workflows and artifact management
Good understanding of containerization technologies and container orchestration
Good understanding of system metrics and monitoring
Good understanding of networking, databases and storage
Good understanding of cloud pricing models, billing mechanisms, and cost allocation methodologies.
Good understanding of cloud account provisioning and designing the account organisation structure in different cloud providers
