Job description

ABAX is strengthening the Mobile Engineering Team with a Senior Android Mobile Developer. As a Mobile Developer in ABAX you will work in a cross functional, international team, bringing ABAX's mobile solutions to the next level. You will work from within our HQ in Larvik with your local colleagues and on remote with your colleagues at our tech centre in Poland, as well as with our external development partners. As you´ll work in a fully agile, cross functional team, you will align with your peers continuously. You will cooperate closely with the representatives from the Product department as well as technical resources in order to implement new features and improve the features currently offered. 

Furthermore, you will be working with an exciting mix of new technologies in a highly scaled IoT ecosystem. Our technology and solutions span hardware, firmware and software and as a Senior Mobile Developer you will be working across these different technology domains. ABAX has full ownership of all our technology areas and all development (Hardware, Software and Firmware) is done inhouse. 

Today ABAX has two mobile app offerings in the market for both the Android and iOS platforms. The ABAX Driver App is used by vehicle drivers in order to administrate their trips and related expenses. The ABAX Admin app is an app targeted at fleet owners and facilitates a good overview of their vehicle fleet and equipment assets.

Job responsibilities

  • Implement market-leading features with high technical quality and a minimum level of effort.
  • Focus on quality, work environment and followin defiend processes within a Mobile Developer's part of the value chain.
  • Contribute in agile development ceremonies and ensure that the ceremonies are well prepared and holds a high standard
  • Estimate work items according to previous experience in order to communicate work impact of planned activities
  • Develop high quality, scalable mobile apps aligned with Abax`s goals and product strategy.
  • Ensure that mobile app development is performed in accordance with Abax`s defined process for software engineering.
  • Deliver and perform code reviews on demand and give constructive feedback on improvements and challenges.
  • Test and automate testing of produced code in order to assure high quality of code, components of code and end user experience
  • Keep the code clean, maintainable and testable in close cooperation with your fellow Mobile Developers

Required skills and qualifications

  • Strong Kotlin competency and experience (it makes up 100% of our codebase)
  • Knowledge of Android Architecture Components and tools for configuration management (Gradle) 
  • Familiarity with MVVM design pattern for implementation of UI
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (like Junit/Robolectric/Mockito)
  • Practical experience with using/consuming REST APIs

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge about RxJava reactive programming library (or similar)
  • Knowledge about DI and DI design patterns in a mobile development environment
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab – Fastlane)
