About the role

We are searching for an experienced Data Scientist to join the Business Analytics team in Stavanger, Norway. As Data Scientist, you will be a key contributor to the development of our portfolio of analytical assets. You will be collaborating with stakeholders and other development resources to understand the needs and align towards delivering a solution.

We see the healthcare industry being transformed by data and AI, from diagnostics, personalized treatment plans and drug discovery to optimization of operational efficiency. Laerdal and our partners have access to a unique data ecosystem and have a goal to be front runners in this transition. Combining our data with AI will improve existing solutions and create better ones that help saving more lives. 


Some of what you will be doing

  • Problem analysis – develop deep understanding of business needs and translate business needs into analytics requirements
  • Data collection and integration – work with various teams to develop an understanding of data sources and data pipelines, while identifying needs for new data pipelines
  • Data exploration – identify and apply various techniques to visualize data and test hypothesis, creating understanding of the business need and data origin
  • Data Preparation and Model Development – apply language models, machine learning and advanced analytics to create classification or predictions
  • Operationalization – operationalize the analytical assets in a production environment, establishing best practices around machine learning and AI production infrastructure
  • Guide and inspire the organization about the business potential and strategy of data science
  • Collaborate across functions to assist in identifying data-driven business opportunities
  • Support the organization in increasing data science competency through collaboration, advisory and training


Who we envision would fit the role

We are searching for a candidate with a MSc or PhD degree within Data Science or other relevant field with a minimum 2 years’ experience of practice. Relevant education may be considered in place of experience.

Experience with the following:

  • Statistics and machine learning to solve problems and create business value
  • Statistical analysis, data analysis tools and techniques
  • MLOps, Python (Example packages: Pandas, NumPy, Keras, TensorFlow) and version control systems (GIT)
  • Building and deploying predictive models or other advanced models

As well as the ability to:

  • Operate across departments and build a network in the organization
  • Work organized, systematic and structured
  • Communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and written
