For this reason, Hydro has recently embarked on an exciting journey to improve the value of its global data assets by introducing a global, modern, and state of the art data strategy, data governance, data management processes, and launch initiatives to improve its data quality and accelerate its data analytics capabilities throughout the organization.


As part of this exciting journey, Hydro ?s group Information & Technology (GRIT) is recruiting the position of "Head of Data Governance."


The Head of Data Governance is a new position in Hydro. The Head of Data Governance reports to the Chief Data Officer and will oversee the establishment, implementation, and safeguarding of data governance in Hydro. Data governance in Hydro is defined as the specification of decision rights and an accountability framework to encourage desirable behavior in the valuation, creation, storage, use, archival and deletion of data and information and is a key element in maximizing the value of our data and reducing risk linked to misuse or loss of data. The Head of Data Governance is to ensure clear data ownership. Accountability and responsibility for data should be clearly defined and understood across Hydro.


The role will also drive and facilitate the Data Governance Council, which shall be organized in a way that always safeguards Hydro's IT and digital environment.



You will work on

The Head of Data Governance is responsible for overseeing Data Governance across Hydro.


General

  • Establish and implement Hydro's global data governance policy and -framework.
  • Establish and support a thriving enactment of the data governance policy and -framework, through a data governance operating model. Ensuring solid data ownership. Implement and sustain clear roles and responsibilities linked to data.
  • Building teams and operating models


Data Governance and Compliance

  • Define Hydro's global data governance policy.
  • Define Hydro's global data governance framework.
  • Test, verify and report that the data governance framework is implemented and provide value throughout Hydro.
  • Establish data policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation and regulation of the use of data and analytics. Proactively work for futureproofing for future legislation and regulation.
  • Enable Hydro to govern and manage the organization's data in such a manner that it is accessible, secure, and of an adequate quality to be used for decision-making.


Strategy & analytics

  • Contribute to the data & analytics strategy, aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to the implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of the initiatives in the data & analytics strategy, linked to data governance.
  • Support and foster competency within relevant areas for data governance and related topics.
  • Align with business needs and opportunities to support value creation through well governed data.

Your qualifications and skills

We are looking for a person with the following skills and capabilities:

  • A master's degree in business administration; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); computer science; data science; information systems or related field; or equivalent work experience. Academic qualification or professional training and experience in legal and regulatory areas is a bonus.
  • Several years of business experience, as a Head of Data Governance or ideally in business management, legal, financial or information or IT management — recently at or near the management level.
  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes, and policies.
  • Strategy and management consulting experience desirable.
  • Experienced leader and team player with the ability to engage and encourage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with data governance, data quality, data management, metadata management, data platforms and/or analytics.
  • Strong communicator, both in written and verbal form and with excellent English proficiency. Fluent Norwegian is a strong positive.

You are enthusiastic, motivated, adaptable, and proactive with the ability to work flexibly in a changing environment; highly resilient and politically astute.
