Lead System Developer

Do you want to be a part of the team which is currently shaping the Norwegian and European space future? Andøya Space has over 60 of years history in space and is in the process of creating a European launch service for small satellites.

Together with IT, Quantitative Risk, the Operations Team and the Sub-Orbital Division the prospective Lead System developer will develop and maintain mission systems important to Andøya Space and our customers.  The Lead System Developer will be a part of the IT Department located in the operations support division at Andøya Space.


The IT-department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, development and security of all IT-systems and infrastructure at Andøya Space. The department also supports in operational activities in Missile, Ballistic Rockets and Orbital launches.


Working tasks/responsibilities

Andøya Space owns and maintains a suite of real-time systems, such as trajectory and positioning, wind weighting, GIS and countdown information systems (CIS). These are used during sub-orbital scientific rocket launches. In addition, we maintain and develop software used to perform quantitative risk analyses.

 

The main tasks and responsibilities are: ·        

  • Maintain and develop real-time mission systems
  • Maintain and develop analysis software used for rocket flight modelling and safety analysis
  • Design graphical user interfaces for easy visualization and interpretation of flight data
  • Develop and maintain in-house systems related to day-to-day operations based on business needs from IT and OT
  • Assist in configuration and operation systems during launch campaigns.

 In addition to supporting sub-orbital scientific rocket launch systems, the candidate may be engaged in the activities of Andøya Space Defence and Andøya Spaceport.

In this role, you will be given a high degree of autonomy and will be entrusted to make central software design decisions. Because of this, it is essential that you are able to learn and acquire new knowledge quickly, and that you have a good overview of the state-of-the-art in modern systems design. Initially, the work will also involve becoming familiarised with and maintaining legacy code. The position is located at Andøya, Norway.    

Qualifications - education

  • You hold a master’s degree in computer science, or similar, although relevant experience can compensate for the formal educational requirement
  • You are experienced with programming in C++
  • Experience with .NET (C#), JavaScript and/or Python, SQL, and front-end frameworks such as Qt, React, or similar, as well as docker/Kubernetes, will be considered beneficial
  • You are experienced with version control using Git

Previous experience working with mission-critical, safety-critical and/or real-time systems will be considered beneficial, however, is not a requirement.

Special qualifications / Qualities

  • Applicant must be able to gain a National Norwegian Security Clearance
  • Applicant must have a Norwegian Citizenship.
  • Proficient in English oral and writing.
  • Applicants must have a Class B driver’s license.
