Senior Engineer - Rigid Pipelines

We are looking for a Senior Rigid Pipelines Engineer!


As Senior Rigid Pipeline Engineer, you will undertake a range of engineering, design and installation activities in the context of engineering studies, FEED work, tenders and, primarily, full scale execution projects. Although the role includes taking responsibility for undertaking scopes allocated, such scope will typically be performed with support and supervision of a more senior discipline colleague, such as a specialist, principle, or lead engineer.As part of the daily tasks in this role, you will perform calculations and analysis using consolidated company guidelines. You will report and communicate outputs through design report, drawings, procedures, or specification documents. You will be systematically responsible for the quality of own work, through thorough verification of own and your peer’s deliverables.
Throughout the course of a project, you are also expected to interface with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the project team, the procurement team, the operational teams, internal centers of technical expertise, clients, and suppliers. Such interface may occur through technical or risk review meetings or during the follow up of more operational phases of the project, on site or offshore.

Job Description

  • Prepare and/or review engineering Design Basis, Technical Specifications, Philosophies, In-Place and As-Laid/As-Built Analysis and other documentation as required to support different phases of the project, namely: conceptual, FEED and detailed design of the rigid pipelines scope.
  • Produce engineering reports and calculations to support different phases of the project, namely: conceptual, FEED and project phases.
  • Assist and develop required documentation for fabrication and installation activities, as well as follow up these activities on sites (TFMC and subcontractors), vessels and offshore platforms.
  • Verification and validation of technical reports against international standards, codes, TFMC internal guidelines and best engineering practices.
  • Ensure quality of deliverables through systematic verification according to TechnipFMC engineering process.
  • Interface with TechnipFMC disciplines as required for the rigid design and installation scopes.
  • Completes assigned work within the allocated schedule and budget while maintaining company quality and safety standards. 
  • Ensure technical integrity and timeliness of all designs undertaken for tenders and projects within their scope of work.
  • Participate in design control and operability meetings as appropriate e.g., Design Reviews, Lessons Learned etc.
  • Ensure compliance with TechnipFMC Quality and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Familiarization with all contract documents and requirements.
  • Understanding of basic project management concepts.
  • Support the technical development, internal training, and capacitation of the less experienced engineers within the rigid pipeline team.

You are meant for this job if:

  • Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Naval or Aeronautical).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the offshore Oil and Gas industry/ Subsea either for an installation contractor or a subsea design house.
  • Understanding of SURF infrastructure is mandatory. Understanding of SPS infrastructure is a bonus.
  • General awareness of relevant standards and regulations such as DNV, Equinor TRs, etc. Ability to research and apply the required codes to given areas as needed.
  • Previous experience undertaking the design and structural analyses for engineering in general is a bonus.
  • Previous experience undertaking the design and/or analysis and/or installation of subsea rigid pipelines. Reeling methodology is a big plus.
  • Understanding of FEA, preferably within Ansys/Abacus applications.
  • Understanding and application of programing scripts (i.e.: PowerBI, Python and VBA) is a bonus.
  • Previous knowledge with AutoCAD, Inventor, DNV spreadsheets, MathCAD, Orcaflex will be highly valued.
  • Full working proficiency in English is required. Norwegian is a bonus.
