The Team:
Join our fully remote team working across three countries, bringing together a diverse group of experts with extensive experience in climate change, mapping science, Earth Observation Technologies, green finance, and advanced technology. As a part of SurplusMap, you'll be collaborating with a senior team committed to driving impactful change.
The Role:
As a Full Stack Developer at SurplusMap, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of green infrastructure projects. You will work on all aspects of our product, focusing on:
- Developing our web application that allows decision-makers to filter and score sites using complex map visualizations.
- Enhancing our collaboration platform by building features like a commenting/review system to facilitate teamwork.
- Prototyping machine learning algorithms to extract relevant data from satellite imagery for grid and transport networks.
- Architecting and developing highly scalable web applications that handle complex data infrastructures and AI models, including machine learning (ML) predictions, geospatial data processing, and leveraging large language models (LLMs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to design, build, and ship new features from scratch.
- Evaluate and improve the performance, durability, and security of applications in production.
- Take ownership of tasks, ensuring features are developed from start to finish.
- Provide and receive constructive feedback during code reviews to enhance team performance.
- Work on projects in an Agile environment, utilizing 2-week sprints for iterative development.
Requirements:
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, GCP, and React.
- Experience in programming complex systems from scratch and writing maintainable, scalable code.
- Ability to work with AI models, machine learning predictions, and complex data infrastructures.
- Experience with geospatial data processing and leveraging large language models (LLMs).
- Thorough testing skills and a commitment to improving the work environment.
- Enjoyment of remote work and collaboration in a virtual team setting.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- You live in Oslo or would like to relocate.

- Proficiency with GCP is a big bonus.
