About the role
The data and insights team at Kinver is focused on delivering data solutions for the organization, which helps provide business insights to our customers with data.
We are looking for a senior data engineer / software developer with a strong background in large-scale data ecosystems and building scalable backends.
You will be building scalable data pipelines for both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes utilizing various technologies and be responsible for developing best practices and making architectural decisions.
You will tackle hard problems to improve the platform’s reliability, resiliency, and scalability.

What you will do
  • Develop, maintain, and test distributed systems that collect and aggregate large amounts of data
  • Help build the infrastructure required to reliably and securely transport data from a wide variety of sources
  • Setup reliable data ingestion pipelines for new data sources and integrate them with other data sets
  • Lead data evaluations and transformations of customer and third-party data
  • Help us optimize (even re-design!) our company's data architecture to support the next generation of products and data initiatives
  • Use your experience to engineer high performing and optimized code
  • Analyze, re-factor and optimize existing SQL data integrations.
  • Anticipate the scalability & performance needs
  • Take part in data onboarding projects, and collaborate with customers to understand their data structure and produce initial data quality diagnostics
  • Perform code reviews and provide feedback to less experienced colleagues
What you will need
  • Degree in Computer Science, Informatics or similar
  • Advanced experience with the one or more of the following programming languages [ Java, C++, Rust, GoLang etc]
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience in data engineering and/or software development, preferably in a tech company or startup
  • Understanding of the challenges involved in building, operating, and maintaining scalable and reliable data pipelines
  • 1+ years of experience in large-scale data ecosystems using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Drill etc.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, debugging and tuning complex SQL statements including window functions, and CTE’s
  • Experience developing towards SOAP/REST APIs and Flat files (XML, JSON, CSV)
  • Ability to work all the way from high level architecture design down to efficient code
  • Attention to detail and desire for end-to-end ownership of deliverables
  • Comfortable and confident in an experimental and fast-paced work environment
