Colour Technology Scientist

We are looking for a Scientist for an exciting and challenging position in our Colour Technology Department. Colour Technology has global responsibilities for pigment assortment, colour recipes and colour tools for internal and external use within the three segments: Decorative, Performance Coatings and Powder Coatings.

This is a varied position where you will be working globally with projects involving several departments and with a lot of different technologies. The work location is our new R&D center at our headquarters in Sandefjord where you will find both state of the art facilities and a lot of good colleagues.


The most important task is to provide support, maintain and develop the tools used for colour management and colour matching within Jotun.

You will work in a position with complex colour tasks, both independently but also together with other departments such as IT and product laboratories.


  • Provide technical support for our global colour matching solution.

  • Help evaluate and implement new technologies to support colour related work in Jotun.

  • Follow up developments in colour measuring and matching techniques.

  • Take part in testing of existing and new colour measurement equipment.

  • Help develop digital solutions to improve the workflow within the group.

  • Coordinate the calibration service for all colour measuring devices in Jotun worldwide.

  • Take part in maintenance and developments of existing colour and formulation databases.

Color Management Software, Color Matching, Color Theory, Color Vision, Data Analysis, Microsoft 365 SharePoint Online, Microsoft Excel VBA Programming, Programming Languages, Project Management Basics, Python, R Programming, Systematic


Master graduate within relevant subject.

  • Preferably some years’ experience from similar role.

  • Some programming skills is required.

  • Proficient in verbal and written English.

  • Genuine interest in digital business process development and a desire to learn new things.

  • Ability to understand user need and create engagement.

  • Service minded and solution oriented.
