As a Research Scientist with us, you'll be at the forefront of developing and shaping 5G and beyond connectivity services and the core networks needed in the transition from 5G to 6G, leaving your mark on a mobile network that will carry us through the 2030s and beyond. Work description

• Define and conduct research within the research program “Beyond 5G towards 6G program” and work in collaboration with the researchers in Telenor R&I, Telenor employees from the business units, external academic and industry partners/customers
• Participate in ongoing research and innovation/advisory activities in the department and in R&I unit as a whole, with initial focus on one or more of the topics: network softwarization/virtualization/cloudification, core networks, radio technologies and security within the research program “Beyond 5G towards 6G”
• Identify and pursue research within topics of high importance for Telenor R&I and Telenor’s strategic agenda
• Contribute to strategic and operative recommendations and implications of the research results and present to relevant stakeholders
• Continuously monitor emerging technology and societal trends that influence Telenor´s business, our industry and society at large
• Participate in internal research and innovation projects of R&I and in close collaboration with national and international universities and research communities, and other Telenor partners/ customers

Experience

• A PhD in Computer Science, Telematics, Engineering or similar
• Broad understanding of computer systems and computer networks, e.g. at the intersection between IT and telecommunication networking
• Specialisation within one or more of the following areas: network softwarization/virtualization and cloud (server, network, orchestration, APIs), network control and management, including OSS, wireless, mobile and IP network security, Linux Native with cloud (OpenStack, Kubernetes) skills, Linux Native with Network-Security skills
• Strong analytical skills with capability to publish academic papers in ranked academic journals
• Understanding of and interest in the Telecom and/or adjacent industry

• Highly interested in research and has a passion to influence business through research
• Persuasive and confident in presenting complex topics to tech and non-tech audiences, including top management in Telenor
• Ability to drive tasks and deliver results on time and with the required quality
