Who are we?
Sikom, known for remote control of heating sources since 1997 and an early developer of Internet of Things systems, is today the B2B market leader in smart home solutions for second homes in the Norwegian market.
The Sikom brand has great trust among electricians, and is known for its user-friendliness, stability, and reliability. We currently have 15 employees, with offices in Trondheim and Verdal in Norway.
How do we work?
Our R&D team consists of three developers at the Norwegian offices, and one developer working from Switzerland. Each team member has their area of expertise, but we are good at expanding our horizons and learning from each other. The most important thing for us is that the developers should enjoy the work tasks.
At Sikom, we develop and manufacture most of the hardware and software ourselves. We control the entire technology stack, which gives room to play with a lot of different things. The path from a need / problem to a finished solution is therefore also very short.
We have native apps (Swift / Objective C / Kotlin / Java) - Sikom Living, which is used by our customers to control their installations. React / React TypeScript is used for additional services such as account administration in Sikom Living.
.NET / C# is used for our backend / api / cloud service. AWS and Bitbucket are used for backend operation and automation.
A typical work week consists of design, development, and implementation, for further development and improvement of existing and new systems, as well as some troubleshooting and bug fixing in collaboration with the support team.
We work agile, but with a pragmatic approach. We have a backlog, and use sprints for planning and collaboration, but we try not to spend too much time on planning and meetings. This way we get more time to do what is fun and productive.
