Technical lead - On your way to becoming a CTO

Collective insights platform

Hunome (Hunomics Ltd) helps humanity make sense of itself on a collective sense-making, understanding and insights platform.

We are a remote and diverse team of about 5 FTE. We launched the web-based MVP in Q2 2021. All in the team are working shareholders.

Hunome builds multidimensional understanding. The technology roadmap is rich in unique ways in which we help humanity make sense of itself.

The problems of disparate perspectives, silos in thought, and slow methods of understanding what is humanity's shared understanding need your attention. So many of our world's themes of knowledge require multidimensional perspectives to be meaningfully decided on.

Technology and development environment

We're looking for a Technical Lead with aspirations to become a CTO - someone who takes responsibility, guides the team to author high-quality sustainable code (is also hands-on in coding), takes charge of the infrastructure/DevOps/ and development lifecycle, hiring and security aspects of our operations and works well in an agile environment. You would have an interest and the skills and experience to think about product and business from the technical perspective and proactively work with the CEO/CPO (product) and our data science team on the roadmap of opportunities.

The Hunome team seeks a lead for the development team to add to the expertise around full-stack development in Node.js, React, and Neo4j. DevOps and infrastructure knowledge are needed, as is data streaming. Our current infrastructure environment is on Azure and some other elements. Your skills in running agile project management will be also valued.

We are well set up with product management leading the product process to ensure discovery, definition, and development progress well. The design turns product management's wireframes and stories to prototypes and a daily scrum moves our progress to staging and production.

Naturally, as a startup, we hone our ways of doing things constantly and we look forward to your insights.

Working conditions

A commitment of 20hrs per week on average in exchange for ownership in Hunome (Hunomics Ltd). As a startup, this approach enables us to keep moving forward without undue financial risk for those joining but it means that you need to have other means to gain your salary until we are funded. If you have not built a startup before, that is ok, we have been at it for a while now, you would get to build a business with us without the long 'gestation' risk that goes with founding from scratch.

You need to lead and attend certain meetings, but otherwise when you do your work has much flexibility.

A distributed and diverse team with several nationalities. Founded in Finland.

At the moment, we cannot be a sponsor of a work permit. If you wish to work in Finland, applicants should hold a work permit valid until (at least) mid-2024.

We use English as a working language.

The deal

  • We have a team who can find their daily bread from different sources with ease (freelancing or another part-time role work well), and their future potential with Hunome. You gain ownership in the company for joining at this stage, pre-funding. After funding that direct ownership form of reward will no longer be on offer.

  • Naturally, with the MVPv1 now launched and a strong effort around momentum and traction building, we will soon seek funding and will pay salaries.

  • Please note that if you are currently employed by a large IT-services firm your contract may exclude you from this deal.

  • This is a part-time (20hrs) role, de-risking joining a startup, until we are funded, then full-time, with salary and continued direct equity ownership in the company.

  • We offer flexible timings for the work to be done with a few fixed meetings like daily scrum, and company all hands on deck on a monthly basis.

  • We seek a person for whom a startup journey is a definite choice, a committed, serious, get-things-done kind of person, and a team player. You have the skills and the right mindset.
