Physicist/System Developer C++

Conoptica delivers highly advanced optical measurement systems to the wire and cable and to the machine tool industry. In wire and cable our systems have become the industry standard worldwide. We develop and manufacture systems that meet extreme demand for accuracy and precision, stability, speed and user-friendliness.

 

To achieve this, we have a team of highly qualified and very competent hardware and software developers. The industries we’re working with are well-established and traditional. However, new trends are reaching us in digitization and sustainability. With these trends emerging we see several opportunities for development of new products, as well as new use for our existing product line. We are therefore looking for new members to our R&D team to increase and expand our capacity and competence.

 

The person we are looking for

  •  has a strong sense of accuracy,
  • is academically strong in optics, mathematics and statistics,
  • has good knowledge of at least one programming language (we use C++),
  • is interested in working with software development,
  • has experience with modern software development methods,
  • is open to new knowledge and has a genuine interest in learning,
  • is well-organized and able to prioritize their own work,
  • is result-oriented, self-reliant and independent while still being a good team-player.

 

What is the job in Conoptica

  • Maintain and develop the optical parts of our products.
  • Development of algorithms, system design and software architecture.
  • System development, programming – mainly in C++.
  • Hardware-near programming and signal processing.
  • International projects with customers, academic organizations and others around the world.

 

Wanted qualifications

  • A degree at master level or higher, preferably in physics (pref. optics) or mathematics.
  • Good knowledge about programming and software development.
  • Knowledge about the tools we use is a big bonus. (C++, Boost, Qt, Python, SCons and git).
  • Fluent in English, should also be business proficient in Norwegian.
  • We are located in Klæbu outside Trondheim, and you’re expected to have this as your main base of work.
  • Not a requirement, but if you have your cultural heritage from outside Europe, we will see it as an advantage.
  • It’s nice if you have relevant work experience, but for this job you may apply even if you’ve just graduated.
